Roger and Judy Lykins welcome you to our clean and friendly family resort on beautiful Gull Lake in the famous Brainerd Lakes area of northern Minnesota! The Lykins have owned and operated Pinehurst on Gull for over 25 years and raised a family (who come back to visit each season).
The Lykins Story
"How did you ever get into the resort business?" Each summer we get asked about this wonderful business we have chosen. Guests love to hear our stories. We had been married for a year and were saving for our first house. Roger was teaching math and computer science and Judy second grade. That spring, Roger came home and told about a resort near Glenwood that we could purchase with two other couples. It was a resort with 10 cabins, a store and a beautiful beach. We loved it!
After that first summer as resorters, we began to look for a resort of our own. After looking at many resorts, we decided on a large resort with a beautiful lodge in the Brainerd area. After 2 years, we agreed to a one-time listing, and our resort was sold. So, once again we were resort shopping.
Over a cup of coffee one day, Roger heard about a resort for sale only 2 miles down the road. It had everything we were looking for: a great beach for families, good, solid cabins, a nice little house, and big, beautiful pine trees. It was just right for us. In the fall of 1978, we bought Lykins Pinehurst Resort.
Over the years, our resort has grown from 6 to 9 cabins. The beach is the center of activity. We also have a store, game room, library, laundry, playhouse and a basketball-paddle tennis court. We continue to remodel and update each cabin and have added decks, ceiling fans and air conditioning. Recently we added a second Rainbow Playset, a paddle boat and a pontoon boat (for rent). Because the resort is small, we get to know our guests, and enjoy telling them about new places to shop, activities in the area, dining, golf and hot fishing spots. We look forward to meeting new guests and greeting guests we have known for years.
